Senior Engineer - Power Systems

Applications are invited for the above position in our Newmarket office. This is a senior Engineering position (minimum 8 years' experience). 

Ergo Consulting Ltd is an independent professional services practice providing electrical engineering consulting services in the fields of power systems and control systems. Our clients are predominantly in the industrial and infrastructure area. Ergo undertake the design and project management of new and upgrade projects for clients around NZ and off-shore. Our aim is to make work enjoyable and fulfilling while supporting professional and personal development. 

We are searching for a self-motivated, technically capable person to join our engineering team. We will provide an excellent working environment, which will provide plenty of opportunities for the right candidate to excel. The diverse range of our projects provides exposure to and responsibilities in different aspects of electrical engineering across multiple industries.

 

To be considered a strong candidate for this role you will need to:

  • Have HV/MV Substation detailed design experience. Power system analysis experience with ETAP/DigSilent would also be beneficial.

  • Be passionate about Engineering.

  • Be degree qualified (preferably from The University of Auckland or The University of Canterbury).

  • Have 8+ years post graduate engineering experience.

  • Have a strong technical knowledge of specifications, standards and codes.

  • Possess excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Have an analytical approach to problem solving.

  • Have an outgoing, friendly personality

  • Be committed to high quality detailed designs that leave no questions unanswered.

  • Have the ability to use initiative.

Electrical CAD Draftsperson - Intermediate - Control Systems

Our Newmarket office is keen to find an intermediate electrical CAD drafter to join our Control Systems team as THE go-to person for all CAD drafting.

We are searching for a self-motivated, technically capable CAD draftsperson to join our team at an Intermediate level. You will need to be able to work autonomously, deliver accurately and on time, and we will provide plenty of opportunities for the right candidate to excel.

 

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • a minimum of 3 plus years electrical drafting experience,

  • to have an electrical background…maybe an electrician with drafting experience

  • to be looking for a role that is 100% CAD drafting

  • extensive experience using AutoCAD and be competent in reading electrical drawings

  • experience in a Design Consultancy would be an advantage

  • good communication skills in order to effectively and confidently interact with engineers and clients

  • an excellent eye for detail

  • to be able to work hard and effectively manage work flows

Principal/Senior Electrical Engineer - South Island

Ergo is a New Zealand employee-owned consultancy established in Auckland in 2003. We provide services to power generation, transmission and distribution companies, government departments and agencies, regional and district councils and organisations engaged in the primary industries sector.  Our aspiration is to become New Zealand's first choice provider of electrical engineering consultancy services for infrastructure and industry.

The expansion of our client base in the South Island has led to us establishing an office in Christchurch. We are now looking to appoint an experienced electrical engineer to lead this office and to work with our existing team to build our business in the South Island.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • a senior or principal engineer or technical specialist with at least 10 years' experience in the NZ power industry
  • born and raised in Canterbury and/or already working in the region
  • known and respected in the power industry and related fields in the South Island
  • experienced as a project manager and potentially also in managing and leading teams of electrical engineers

Electrical Engineering Internship

Ergo is now accepting applications for an intern Electrical Engineering position in our Power Systems Design team - specialising in high and medium voltage electrical design for power generation and distribution companies, and large electricity users. This work includes substation, generation, protection and earthing design.

This position is available to Canterbury University students completing their 2nd professional year of a Bachelor of Engineering in 2017.

You need to:

  • have strong, but not necessarily top academic results - we are looking for well-rounded individuals

  • have taken ENEL 382 (Electric Power and machines)

  • be a team player

  • have excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and your colleagues - written and oral.

  • be an "active" learner

  • have a passion for electrical engineering

  • be proactive with a “can do” attitude

As an intern you will be employed on a casual employment agreement where your hours will depend on both your study commitments and current Company resourcing needs.
