Project Administrator

Ergo Consulting Ltd is a successful, New Zealand owned independent professional services practice with offices in Auckland and Christchurch. We aspire to be New Zealand’s first choice provider of electrical engineering services for infrastructure and industry. Ergo undertakes the design and project management of new and upgrade projects for clients throughout New Zealand and also in some overseas territories. We provide security and an excellent working environment. Reporting to the Heads of Department, the newly created role of Project Administrator will provide high level support and co-ordination of business and operational activities to the Department Heads and their project managers.  You will work as part of a busy and dynamic team of engineers who are passionate about their role and committed to exceeding customer expectations and company goals.

The Role:

  • Provide general administration support to the Head of Department, Project Managers and Project Team to enable projects to be completed on time and within scope

  • Co-ordinate and manage project tasks to ensure project delivery within allotted budget and timelines

  • Maintain accurate files and documentation for projects

  • Assist Project Managers with recording in Union Square (Ergo’s document and project management software platform) future workload, resourcing, budgets, forecasts, variations and other project administrative tasks

  • Ensuring all projects are set up and reporting correctly in our cost control systems

  • Preparing and submitting invoices to clients, billing and monitoring project budgets

  • Interpreting and analysing project financial reports

  • Assisting project managers with cost control, maintenance and auditing

  • Participating in project reviews, producing reports and interpreting financial information to support project management decisions

  • Ensuring company QA and project procedures are followed by the team

  • Fostering a safe and healthy workplace.

To be considered for the position, you will require some or all of the following:

  • Sound administration and information management experience.

  • A persuasive and practical approach to supporting the team to ensure all project administration tasks are completed accurately on time

  • Adaptability to get things done, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • High level computer and customer service skills

  • Solid project administration experience working in a commercial environment preferably with a professional services background and ideally in the engineering sector 

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with budget, invoicing and financial experience

  • Fantastic time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and challenging deadlines in an efficient manner

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a key attention to detail and supporting others to meet their targets

Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word), and prior experience working with an information/documentation management system.

Principal/Senior Electrical Engineer - South Island

Ergo is a New Zealand employee-owned consultancy established in Auckland in 2003. We provide services to power generation, transmission and distribution companies, government departments and agencies, regional and district councils and organisations engaged in the primary industries sector.  Our aspiration is to become New Zealand's first choice provider of electrical engineering consultancy services for infrastructure and industry.

The expansion of our client base in the South Island has led to us establishing an office in Christchurch. We are now looking to appoint an experienced electrical engineer to lead this office and to work with our existing team to build our business in the South Island.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • a senior or principal engineer or technical specialist with at least 10 years' experience in the NZ power industry
  • born and raised in Canterbury and/or already working in the region
  • known and respected in the power industry and related fields in the South Island
  • experienced as a project manager and potentially also in managing and leading teams of electrical engineers
  • keen to take responsibility and to take the next step in their career
  • someone who will flourish in the Ergo environment

Ergo are now accepting applications for Graduate Level Electrical Engineering positions in either:

  • Control System Design - delivering low voltage electrical, instrumentation, automation, telemetry, and process control solutions for public utility, local government and large industry clients.

  • Power System Design - specialising in high and medium voltage electrical design for power generation and distribution companies, and large electricity users. This work includes substation, generation, protection and earthing design.

These two separate positions are available to students completing their final year of a Bachelor of Engineering and wanting to start their career off in a company committed to the development of Graduate Engineers.

To be considered for either of these roles you will need to have a minimum of a BE (Electrical) or be graduating in early 2019.

In addition you will need to:

  • have strong, but not necessarily top academic results - we are looking for well-rounded individuals
