Ergo carried out the design of a transformer replacement at Martinborough substation for Powerco.

Ngawha power plant upgrade and expansion - Top Energy, Northland

Ngawha has been operational since 1998, with an initial plant of 10MW followed by a further 15MW plant added in 2008. Ergo has provided design services at each stage of the plant's development.

Geothermal power plant for the Caribbean Government of Dominica - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)

We are providing project management for the construction of a new 7MW geothermal power plant in Dominica, a Commonwealth country with a population 70,000.

Power supply review - Port of Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

Tauranga is NZ’s largest port by total traffic volume. We were appointed to carry out a review of the Port’s 11 kV network and supply and advise on future investment options.

Lichfield dairy processing plant upgrade - Fonterra, Waikato

We undertook the conceptual and detailed design for improvements to Fonterra’s Lichfield plant.

Hobson Street substation upgrade - Vector, Auckland

We undertook the primary and secondary electrical design and building design and protection settings for the upgrade of the 11kV switchboard at Hobson Street substation in central Auckland.

Asset management planning - Auckland Airport, Auckland

We reviewed high voltage electrical infrastructure and supply for the entire Auckland airport site and advised on long term upgrade strategy.

Havelock North water inquiry (Expert Witness) - Hastings District Council, Hawkes Bay

Mark Tomkins was called as an expert witness to the Havelock North Water Inquiry.

Helping New Zealand’s farmers

Ballance’s Hewletts Road plant in Mount Maunganui produces superphosphate, the most common fertiliser used in New Zealand farming. Ergo is providing advice, design and protection settings for the upgrade of the generator protection, excitation, control and auxiliary support systems.

It’s going to be called Sparky

Ergo is continuing its relationship with the Ports of Auckland Limited, helping to upgrade port facilities to enable them to bring their new fully electric tug into service next year.

Powering the North

The Ngawha Expansion Project (NEP) involved adding a new power station to the existing Ngawha Generation Limited (NGL) operation at Ngawha.

Pokeno Substation

New substation for Pokeno to meet the demand for development in the area, south of Auckland.

A project is only finished after there is a party !

This was once said to me about all good projects, and the Pokeno substation was no different. “Throughout my career I have been fortunate to take my family to see several of the projects I have been involved in” says Steve Gaskin, Ergo’s Project Manager and Head of the Civil & Structural Department.
