Senior/Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer

Our Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, and Christchurch offices are busy, and our team is growing. As a result, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer within our Power Systems Design Section, in our Christchurch office.  

Reporting to the Design Section Lead, you will lead substation projects and deliver concept and detailed design projects with a group of talented substation detailed designers.

You will be an Intermediate Electrical Engineer who is looking to lead projects. You will have experience working on HV/MV substation detailed design projects.

You will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years HV/MV Substation electrical detailed design experience in New Zealand. 
    • Senior and Intermediate roles are available depending on the applicant’s experience.
  • Ideally both Primary & Secondary detailed design experience in a utility substation environment.
  • A proven track record in substation design projects.
  • A desire to lead complex substation projects.
  • Able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with other project stakeholders including the civil/structural team.
  • Have a strong technical knowledge of typical NZ specifications, standards and codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with colleagues, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • An analytical approach to problem solving.
  • The capability of demonstrating and living our values of being agile, genuine, and having an inspired, passionate approach to Engineering!
  • Citizenship, or a suitable visa to allow you to work in NZ

Responsibilities include:

  • Project and design management
  • Producing high-quality detailed designs that leave no questions unanswered.
  • Working with civil and structural engineers
  • Managing projects, or actively contribute to successful project inputs, monitoring and outcomes.
  • Delivering successful project documentation and outcomes required to deadlines and budget.
