Power supply review – Port of Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

Tauranga is NZ’s largest port by total traffic volume. The Port has a strategic land holding of nearly 200 hectares and plans are in place for land development and infrastructure expansion to meet future Port traffic demand.

We were appointed to carry out a review of the Port’s 11 kV network and supply. This had been identified as inadequate and in need of expansion and upgrade, particularly to maintain the electrical backbone, to accommodate future loads and to provide a greater level of security of supply.

Development options were tested using an ETAP network model of the site, leading to a staged investment plan and a programme of the network upgrade.
